Over 20 years ago, Andrew and I arrived in Loma Linda emotionally and financially “down-and out.” Through the support and generosity of family and friends, we were able to establish ourselves and persevere during many difficult seasons. During this time, we realized that there were those in our community struggling far more than we were, and even though we didn’t have much, we always had enough margin to give. And we did give—to students, new immigrants, families who were displaced, those who had lost their jobs, and those who were in precarious living situations. We gave what was needed – whether it was cash, meals, groceries, a hot shower, laundry facilities, temporary housing, employment, transportation, tax preparation, or the dignity of a funeral service.
Jabez Ministries formalizes the work we have been doing in the community for the last two decades. The organization proudly bears my parents’ name—Tom and Jane Jabez—and honors their lifelong commitment to helping those in need.
Jabez Ministries Inc. is a registered non-profit charity that began in June 2020. We distribute a variety of groceries (dairy, fresh produce, meat/poultry, bread, various shelf-stable pantry items, etc.) to our local community of San Bernardino County. Currently, we serve an average of 180+ residents/families a week.
